The Qualities of God

I was talking with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while and all I could see was joy radiating brightly from their face. I mentioned it to my friend to which they replied,  “I don’t know why you see joy in me because nothing is happening in my life that is particularly joyful.” I smiled like I had a secret because I know joy is a quality of God. The qualities of God are not dependent on anything outside of ourselves. Joy is what we are as individual beings created in the image and likeness of God.

I recently received a bit of unsettling news on some bloodwork. I have been in remission for 4.5 years, praise God! A number on a recent test started to sneak up a little.  I spun for a moment (a moment for me can be 3 minutes or 3 days)  and then I surrendered it to God, asking what this experience is here to teach me and what am I to teach. Personally, I thought I had learned everything I needed to learn the last time this bloodwork was flagged. Then I got the sense that something more was seeking to emerge. This is some kind of up-leveling experience. It is an opportunity to realize more deeply my oneness with God and all the qualities of God. It is also an opportunity to be gentle and compassionate with myself.

Through prayer, meditation, study, fellowship, practitioner sessions, and life-affirming choices, I am taking it on as a job to realize my oneness with God. It is my intention to walk through this experience radiating the God qualities of love, peace, and joy regardless of appearances, without attachment to outcome. A Course in Miracles says,” I am one self, united with my creator.”

Affirmation

I am one self, one unique expression of God. I have only God's qualities. And so it is. Amen!
